Governor Schwarzenegger today vetoed AB 1830, saying it “overreaches” in an attempt to prevent another subprime fiasco.
He said the bill — which on high-cost loans limits lender payments to brokers, limits prepayment penalties and prohibits negative amortization — only applies to state-chartered lenders and would put them at a disadvantage to federally regulated companies.
